Route du Rhum 2026 Village: Immerse yourself in a unique atmosphere just steps from Camping Duguesclin

Every four years, the Route du Rhum ship race transforms Saint-Malo in Bretagne into the world capital of offshore racing. For nearly ten days, Saint-Malo pulsates with the energy of the docks, the skippers, and the visitors who come to admire the largest racing yachts.

By staying at Camping Duguesclin, located just 4 km from the starting line and 11 km from the departure village of the ship race, you can fully enjoy the event while returning to the tranquility of the coastline in Saint-Coulomb at night.

An incomparable atmosphere on the quays of Saint-Malo

From the moment the village opens, the atmosphere is unique.

The pontoons are as close as possible to the boats

Visitors can get up close to the Ultims, Ocean Fifty, Class40, and Imoca yachts. Seeing these giants of the sea in port, observing the technical preparations, and meeting the teams creates a unique and intimate connection with the world of offshore racing.

For sailing enthusiasts and the simply curious alike, it's a complete immersion into the behind-the-scenes world of a boat race.

Entertainment and constant excitement

The village, traditionally located around the Saint-Malo docks, offers opportunities to meet the skippers, various nautical activities and demonstrations, exhibitions and sponsor booths, giant screens and live broadcasts, interviews, and evening concerts.

The atmosphere is both festive and family-friendly. You can feel that special energy that characterizes the great transatlantic departures.

How to easily access the village from the campsite?

During the Route du Rhum, traffic around Saint-Malo city center is regulated. When traveling by car, signs are posted at the city entrances, making it easy to find your way to the overflow parking areas located at various points, as well as the shuttle buses.

From Camping Duguesclin, you have quick access to the roads leading to these parking areas. The advantage: you avoid the heart of the congestion while remaining close by.

If you prefer to use public transportation directly from Camping Duguesclin, that's possible. Regular bus lines, particularly those from Cancale and Saint-Coulomb, are increased during the event. A bus stop is located just 800 meters from the campsite, providing quick access to the festival area without parking hassles.

Departure day: a spectacle visible from the coast and the Duguesclin campsite

The grand departure is a moment of exceptional excitement. From the beach at Anse du Guesclin, accessible on foot (900 m), it's possible to watch the fleet set off. The atmosphere there is different: more natural, more open, far from the hustle and bustle of the city center or the starting line located 3.5 km upstream at Pointe du Grouin.

During the event, many visitors choose to alternate days immersed in the village with moments of relaxation by the sea. Staying at Camping Duguesclin in a town near Saint-Malo allows you to enjoy the Route du Rhum while finding peace and quiet in the evening to rest.
